Epilithic Diatoms Diversity in The Reservoir of Universitas Diponegoro, Semarang

Diatom biodiversity is an increasing concern due to growing human impact, the study was carried out in one of most important water storage reservoirs Tembalang Region. The anthropogenic activity influence diatom diversity UNDIP Reservoir. reservoir Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) Semarang area 1.24 km2, with deepest part 15 meters, and able accommodate up 13500 m3. This aims determine relative abundance, diversity, evenness, dominance diatoms expected provide information about condition waters University Reservoir, Semarang. Littoral benthic five locations were sampled. Diatoms slides prepared from scraping rock surface 3x3 cm, dilute 50 ml distilled water, identification under microscope 1000 magnification. Analysis physical characteristics includes Temperature, pH, DO, TDS, Conductivity, Turbidity. composition Reservoir consists 72 species that belong 20 genera. Shannon-Wiener index (H') ranges 2-3. (D) 0.05-0.17. Evenness (E) 0.54-0.90. Water quality parameters showed a fairly good value growth diatoms. Dominated by periphytic taxa such as Cyclotella meneghiniana (15.72%), Brachysira microcephala (9.93%), Achnanthidium minutissima (6.84%) which are widely distributed live at temperatures 20-30?C pH >6.
